GUESSING COMP WINNER AND CREEPY CRAWLIES !!!

** IMPORTANT UPDATE **
It has been brought to my attention that some of us who are using our blogs and auctions to raise $ for Breast Cancer Research are being targeted by people who it seems have no sense of morals and no common sense either. I was targeted myself via an Ebay Breast Cancer listing, because i stated that anyone who reported my listing for mentioning my blog ought to be ashamed of themselves as it was to direct people to others who are selling breast cancer items.
ANYWAY.....
This is what this person sent me. I will withhold her name because i am better than that, she knows who she is anyway.

Q: You are the one who should be ashamed of yourself selling items to profit amongst a very sacred day for woman. SHAME ON YOU 21-Oct-08

MY REPLY:
A: Hello *** I will look past this rudeness and see it as just ignorance. So raising money for Breast Cancer Research is a bad thing then?? Directing people to other sellers who are doing the SAME thing is a bad thing then too? DONATING the profits from our sales is also bad then i assume? I have nothing to be ashamed of thankyou very much. I have lost a dear friend from this disease AND almost my husband as well so PLEASE DO NOT accuse me of things you know nothing about.

All i can say is it is a heartless and low act to target anyone who is raising money for such a worthwhile cause, with such venom!
I hope my friends, that you are not a victim of this.

Love always,
Shann xx

NOW THE GOOD STUFF

BEFORE I START RAMBLING TOO MUCH ( and i warn you, i will)..... I need to say a HUGE THANKYOU to all those who took part and/or supported our BREAKFAST FOR BREASTS DAY ! The messages of support, blog comments, and emails from people who have been touched by this dreadful disease called Cancer were AMAZING ! WE truly are a loving sisterhood and you all showed that with your kind words and support SO THANKYOU from my heart to my tippy toes! There are still some items for sale and auctions running on Ebay if you'd like to show your support some more. Just go to my post below and you will see the links to direct you. Every cent raised will go towards BREAST CANCER RESEARCH.
NOW...onto the WINNER of my guessing competition!!!

This person guessed the actual number....i thought it was NEVER going to happen! LOL.

SO please give a huge round of applause to ALISON @ creativeartandcraft who guessed 116 marshmallows!
Alison i will email you and grab your address from you!

Thanks everyone who entered! I wish i could send you all some marshmallows!!

********* NOW FOR THE CREEPY CRAWLY STUFF *********

yep that's right...creepy and crawly...things with hairy legs...things that make your skin crawl....things that can turn a normally tough chick like me (haha) into a squealing hysterical mess! Hey I'm only human and geez louise can i squeal!

Now the cause of the hysteria???

ONE OF THESE NASTY LITTLE BLIGHTERS..well not so little actually...
This is a Huntsman Spider....you feeling sick right now?? Well read on, it gets worse!

The story goes a little something like this...now i say 'a little something' coz obviously i cannot write the exact words that were used...*wink* I am a lady after all....(except where spiders are concerned).

So late yesterday afternoon im out the front with Sam...we decide to feed the garden...i go grab the box of Aquasol...lalalala...having fun, walk over to the tap and suddenly i feel a 'bite' like a pinch almost, on my finger....Insert extreme expletives here now....picture me throwing the box of aquasol on the ground whilst leaping about, cussing and with Sam saying "WHAT MUMMY??WHAT MUMMY???"...i kick the box over to see the culprit there on the other side of it ! A HUNTSMAN...YES jus like that nasty hairy one up there in the photo!IT WAS HUGE! The sod of a thing bit me! So naturally i take my shoe off and smack the you-know-what out of it ! That'll teach him.
OK now don't panic THEY ARE NOT POISONOUS...but geez you kinda forget that for a moment! After swearing loud enough for the whole street to hear me i run inside and wash my hand under the kitchen tap...um yeah not before i LICKED MY FINGER!! GAWD WHAT AN IDIOT!!! If it had been poisonous id have just licked the poison right...yep! Well shock will make you do all kinds of dumba** things!
ANYWAY...after calming down i go back outside with Sam who goes straight over to the spider and hits it with his shovel (just to be sure it really is dead)...MY HERO !

Then Shane arrives home and i relay the story to him, which he finds pretty darn amusing, he shakes his head at me, tells me I'm an idiot and they aren't even poisonous. THANKS HONEY for your concern there, I'm overwhelmed...groan.
Father then arrives home and tells me my finger could fall off. GOOD GRIEF CHARLIE BROWN.I really needed to hear that.
SO i email my friends and tell them if they never hear from me again THIS IS WHY and if i keel over then please wait a few hours before coming to my house and taking all my pretties...you know, out of respect...LOL.

But I'm here typing so that means i made it through the ordeal with all fingers in tact and my ARACHNOPHOBIA even worse than it ever was!

Usually i find a story like this has a message in it for all of us ....My mum would say the message is WEAR GLOVES (as she did politely point out to me)...But i say the message is.. 'Huntsman spiders with their fluro green guts should learn they are no match for thong (as in shoes) wielding hysterical blonde's'
And so be it.

Hope my escapade gave you a giggle. It may as well have, my whole family and neighbourhood found it entertaining!

LOVE AND PINK KISSES

Hey Shann,
Damm, Damm, Damm! really wanted to win your guessing game but hey that is life huh. Congrats to Alison, she is one lucky Lady.

As for your Huntsman, don't you just HATE them, we have one that lives in the roof of our shed/garage & when it gets too hot (the roof is iron) it decides to come out & scare the bageebizzes out of me & no bull it is the size of a saucer! YUCK I am terrified of spiders, they really make my skin crawl but at least one hasn't biten me yet!
You want to hear screaming when ever I see one, think you could hear me all the way down the east coast to your place, not to mention I could do the 100 metre run in 2 seconds flat!

Thanks for the guessing comp Oh & the laugh!
Have you bought yourself any gloves yet?

Have a great day

I hate spiders and we seem to have more than our fair share in Australia!! I am sure it is because I have such a fear of spiders that I am guaranteed to walk into every spider web ever made, even after others have walked in front of me...I will get it!! AAArgghh.
I hope the rest of the week is spider free!

People who left comments for you and others involved in supporting this cause are very immature, insensitve and narrow minded...
Obviously they do not value their Breasts or in the case of anther nasty that was aguy his Testicles...As one day they may very well need the Help of these treatments that we all are getting by and supporting!
And for goodness sake ...Life is short we are here for a good time not a long time!!
Lets stop passing judgement and just get on with it and if for those nasties that have comment or opinion...Keep it to yourself!

You are the BEST story teller. I laughed so hard my coffee nearly exited my nose hahaha. I am sorry that happen to you, but he got his in the end! I had a similar incident with a scorpion that was in my sink. I panicked and flushed him down the drain along with 50 dollars worth of clorox, pine sol and all my other cleaners that were under the sink!
God Bless you!!!

Your post carried me through a large range of emotions. Since you only have little tiny spiders here (which I find curious), I was a little worrked about you for awhile. Thank goodness this creature was not poisonous, but sorry for the paine:(
Thank you for your work and contribution for Cancer. Just keep on doing what you know is right and ignore the others.

What the hell is the matter with that women?? Cant she read? Doesnt she SEE that you said ONE HUNDRED PERCENT goes to the charity?? That really pisses me off!!! I wish I knew who it was, I would give her a piece of my mind. So far no one has said anything on my blog and they better hope they dont!

Congrats to the LUCKY winner!!!

OKay, I am so terrified of spiders Shannon!! I would have had a heart attack if that happened to me!! YIKES! You are much braver than I.

I love you sweetie and I KNOW that you did the Breakfast For Breasts for a GOOD reason and it is things like this that make me honored to know you and call you a friend!

Big Ol' bunny hugs!

Oh my gosh...I absolutely hate spiders. We have the brown recluse here in Wisconsin and they're just disgusting. Glad yours wasn't poisonous. I would have had some loud words coming out of my mouth too!

Shann, now that you are fine I have to tell you that those spiders ARE poisonous but forntuntately not fatal poison. They can just make you pretty unwell. that one obviously didnt let loose with too much venom!! We have them in our house from time to time but we let them be as they eat the bugs. We even give them names!! As for the strange response to your breakfast for breasts day I have to say that there always seems to be some idiot that feels the need to put others down. Very sad indeed :0(
Way out on my mallow guess, but well done Alison!!

Congrats to the lovely Alison - can't beleive I was so off with my guess!!

You poor love....that naughty spider really got you worked up. I guess you showed him - well and good. Personally, I don't mind spiders and just let them be but I do have a cheeky huntsman that occassionally dangles above my students heads in my artroom. I find it best not to alert them to that fact.

Hugs,
Kerryanne

would have been hilarious if you used the underwear 'thong' variety!!! no seriously those things are SCARY.
what an ingnorant twit of a person to accuse you of doing anything wrong by raising money for research. my brother inlaw who is 30 is a survivor but his mother sadly lost her life to this insane disease. keep doing what you know is right no matter what! xx rosey

Oh my gosh. Sounds like you've really been under attack lately. By eight-legged and mindless two-legged creepy crawlers.

Too bad you couldn't whack the two-legged one with your shoe like you did the eight-legged one. ;-)

Oh, your spider story is horrible! I think I heard you scream all the way to the US of A! (and yes, I have heard those blankety-blank-blank words before, LOL) Licking it? Wanted to throw up at that! Your lips touched spider lips (indirectly, LOL)!

Hi Shannon,

That spider looks scary!! So glad you are okay. Also I don't understand rude people and why they would target you. You guys did a great thing so don't let it get to you. Have a wonderful weekend!
