SUGAR 'N' SPICE ....AND ALL THINGS NICE.

You know when you see (or know) someone who is so gosh darn creative and just has that certain something special? Well i know someone like that and i want to introduce you all to her. Her name is Allison (Allie)Godwin, ive known her for about 18 years, and ive truly NEVER seen photos as GORGEOUS as those she takes! I am completely in awe of her work.

Allison is now in the process of starting her own small photography business and i think she will be busier than a bee! I adore that her photos are so unique... she just seems to capture so much beauty in each shot. I think such a wonderful talent should be cherished and shared with the world!

THERES A CHAIR IN THERE......

...and maybe a hundred more as well.....lalalala.
Seriously at my house theres no shortage of places to 'Park Ya Backside'.If you're a long time follower of my blog, this will not come as a shock to you, you all know my weakness' and obsessions, LOL.
Im a chair-a-holic and proud of it. Hey i may even make a T.Shirt.
MY NAME IS SHANNON AND IM A CHAIR-A-HOLIC
Yep it has a certain ring to it....dont you think.

So anyroad, i have this chair on my front porch....my dad has been 'parking his butt on it' a fair bit, so i havent bothered to fix her up at all because i knew she'd just get all blah looking again. BUT dad moved out last week (yes, yay we found him a cute lil place of his own)so guess what i did?
"Heres ya bags dad, see ya, yep it's been great...bye, dont let the door hit ya on the way out"...THEN i grabbed that poor ole chair, took her out the back to the garage and let rip with the paint!

Now theres good Shabby and theres bad Shabby and this ole girl was waaaaay past good Shabby if you ask me.


Now, im thinking i need some more colour on my lil' porch so guess what? I totally bypassed the pink paint, yes, thats right, you read right, i DID NOT, i repeat DID NOT paint her pink. Ok get a hold of yourself, it's not the end of the world. LOL.

Look what i DID do though....(and there is pink roses at least)

So despite the lack of my usual 'pinkness' i kinda like her in her new sunny spot on my porch.

Now im off to park my backside.

A LITTLE EASTER TWEAKIN'

So this week im not very well at all. I have a slipped disc in my back and now to top it all off, i have a chest infection.Did i run over a chinaman and not realise? Surely i must have run over 2 or 3 to feel this pitiful.
So today, fed up with laying flat in bed and watching re-runs of everything on foxtel, i thought id do some easter tweakin'. Not too much, just a little somethin' on the sideboard to get that 'Hoppy' feeling going on in the house. Plus Sam will love it.

I forgot i had this banner! Shhhh dont tell my hubby,but i climbed up a chair to get it from the storage cupboard (ouch, paying for it now, believe me).

EARTH HOUR in our home.

Tonight from 8;30pm to 9;30pm is Earth Hour and this year im giving myself 'snaps' for actually remembering to turn the lights out. Yep, last year i forgot..OOPS.

So Shane, Sam and i have lit some candles and while im typing this, my boys are playing Ben 10 Monopoly by candle light. This is my quick escape from it, LOL,...Sam and i have been playing it for most of the day and let me tell you the kid has houses on everything and steals money from the bank when he thinks you arent looking (hence the ability to buy sooooo many houses)LOL.
Anyroad, i digress....
I took some piccies of some of our pretty flickering candles....our little part in Earth Hour.

Now im just fiddling with colours and angles and stuff....hey this is fun.

I loved the glow these little tea light candles made on my china.

Man, i loooved how this lit up just those little spots....plus more tweakin with the colour *grin*


So while we giggled by candle light i hope we did a little something helpful for the planet. Afterall it's up to us to save it for our kids and grandkids right.

I HEART MY NEW BEDSPREAD

You know when you see something and you JUST HAVE TO HAVE IT?? I mean REEEEAAALLLYYY have to have it. Like if you dont you just cant imagine how you'll go on..?
Well thats how i felt about something i came across on Ebay a few weeks ago.
AND this 'something' was calling my name...yep truly it was...serious, i could hear it..oh be quiet it was too ! LOL.

So anyway i did have to buy it and today it arrived all the way from Malaysia. AND it only took 4 days to get here! OHMYGAWD how is that for AWESOME SHIPPING.
So whats got my knickers in such a tangle? My feathers all ruffled???

I want to stay in bed wrapped in this all day now :)

Oooh and i have to tell you the seller i bought it from is the loveliest, most kind hearted lady i have EVER dealt with on Ebay. Her name is LeeKhyn and her beautiful Ebay store is MyLovelyQuilt
You really have to pop by and visit this gorgeous lady, i cannot speak highly enough of her,she truly is a doll.


Now...the real problem arises....HOW DO I KEEP THE FURRY BABIES OFF IT....???
Hmm...the mind boggles.

Oh well, i will figure it out.

So off we go to the local supermarket this morning....Sam knows if he is good he gets to choose a treat....usually some sort of sugary sweetness....But not today. No, today we chose this......

Endless laughter in the form of a blow up piece of rubber.




So today in our house this is what you'll be hearing...

...followed by fits of laughter that makes your eyes well up with tears.

Thats our crazy, fun house and hey WE LOVE IT.

EEEEKKKK I HAD 'BLOGGERS BLOCK' !!!

No your eyes don't deceive you, it's really me. It feels like Ive been gone for yonks doesn't it? Oh man i had the worst Bloggers Block. Do you ever get that? Boy oh boy i just went blank for a while there and couldn't get out of it. That's ok, i don't mind admitting i go blank sometimes, hee hee.
BUT I'm back now minus the blankness and hopefully my block will stay far far away in Happily Never After!

So whats been happening? Well I'm still in the kitchen re-modelling process. We had some very hot and muggy weather for a while so i didn't do any kitchen painting, it takes waaaaaayyy to long for the paint to dry and it just isn't good to paint in that kind of weather.
SO i got stuck into some orders instead and i also ventured into our garage to see what i had hiding in there that id forgotten about. YIKES I'm lucky i made it out alive! I have so much 'stuff' in there. (notice i didn't refer to it as 'crap', unlike a certain husband,who shall remain nameless, did).
I say STUFF and STUFF is good!
So anyroad, i got a chance to cut, sand and paint some more of my timber shutters.

I removed the slats from a couple so you can hang your pretty linen from them!

A few weeks ago i went Antiquing with my lurvley mum and grabbed these gorgeous goodies! I couldn't resist them and i looooove them.

These candle stick holders were screaming my name!

I got these porcelain roses for the bargain price of $5 each. I'm pretty sure they were so cheap because they would once have had another rose on each of them.

Mum bought tonnes of stuff (i was being very good watching my pennies) and i may just have to take my camera to her house soon and do a post on it because her home is looking JUST GORGEOUS !

Ok I'm off to finish watching 'The View', I'm hooked on that show!

Oh b4 i go i have to tell you that my Sam is LOVING kindergarten and doing sooooo well, he has already received 5 Kinder awards and then a special Blue Shield Award ! Yep I'm a gushy proud mummy. I volunteer in his class 3 mornings a week as a helper, having the children do literacy activities and they also read to me in groups and singly. I'm really loving it, they are a great bunch of kids (and Sam really loves his mum being there too.).
Maybe i missed my calling as a Teacher huh?

IS YOUR HOME PERFECT ?

Well i know mine isnt. So what about yours?

Ive been thinking about 'perfect' homes for a few days, after a customer came to my home to pick up her orders and asked "Is this place a shop?"
Ok now i have to admit i wasn't sure how i felt about that question. I know my customer meant it as a compliment by saying my home was lovely and in her eyes 'perfect'.
But in my mind i thought Geez did she think it looked so perfect that it wasn't 'lived in' ?
I was really really worried about this.
Then i decided that while it may have seemed perfectly in place, this lady didn't see right around the corner far into the family room to all the things that make our home so NOT perfect. LOL.

Like the un-polished, un-sanded floorboards with paint splashes on them from the previous owners.
And the pieces of paper sticky taped to the floor (courtesy of Sam and his vivid imagination) with X marks the spot on them.....

Now how could i possibly rip those up?
I never will.

OR my gorgeous dresser with the bottom doors that keep getting pushed in by the cats because i still cant decide what fabric to keep on them so i haven't secured them down.


Then theres my exercise bike that's sitting in the Family Room. I just have nowhere else for it...and anyway i like to pedal while im watching re-runs of Ally McBeal.


So i concluded that while my house may 'appear perfect', there are those little spots here and there that prove otherwise.
Don't get me wrong i LOVE all the beautiful, glossy homes in the magazines, and yes a few rooms of my home are like that. BUT the Family Room is where all the action is, and on any given day, amongst my pretties and on my new sofas, there are a zillion kids toys, books and drawings by Sam, 5 sleepy and cheeky cats, squished cushions everywhere and ..... MY FAMILY.
And you know what? I wouldn't change any of it for all the money in the world.

KITCHEN MAKEOVER PART 2. Warning WET PAINT.

Okies girls just a quick lil update on the kitchen re-do.
A 'slight hiccup'has occurred so it looks like i may be waiting a while longer for my 'new' cupboards( i know, bummer dude). Soooo i guess we are lucky that im pretty handy dandy with a paint brush hey!

Today's mission: Start undercoating the cupboards....byeeee byeeee pink.



Now with 5 cats inside i really do have to pick and choose the time when i will top coat them....i don't really fancy little kitty katt hairs stuck to my gloss paint. Fuzzy n Fluffy isn't really the look im going for, LOL.

Oh and the hall tiles are all gone too. That hubby of mine, he is worth bottling i tell you :)
So now we have floorboards right through the house and im looooving them so much. Pulling out nails but...not loving that so much. But a gals gotta do what a gals gotta do in order to get her home all prettied up right?

Here's the very last spot of tiles. We had a moment of silence b4 Shane slammed those ugly suckers with the sledgehammer!


WooooHooo i am so glad to see the back of them!

Lots more to do...I'll be back in a few days with more progress to report on.
