Itchy Feet

No, not literally..LOL
I need help girls. PWEASE PRETTY PWEASE
My front room, commonly referred to in my family as 'The Pretty Room' is due for a bit of a makeover.

It seems that somewhere along the lines i managed to have all my furniture around the perimeter of the room, all except for the coffee table. I dont like this look (thats just me personally but) of everything around the outside, its making me feel boxed in.

Its a big room but i do have a fair amount of furniture in it.....
Ok things you must know before YOU HELP ME.
I am going to paint the old Jarvi lounge antique white...VERY SOON. The sideboard is in the process of a makeover (hence the putty you can see where the old handles use to be). I have gorgous Ashwell Rosalie curtains to hang up too..YIPPEE.

My main aim is that i want my Dining Table in the centre or close to it (i have gorgeous new fabric to re-cover my chairs too) with a big Chandy hanging above it.

I do have some ideas, but i guess im kinda limited to where i can move things....
BUT id love to hear some suggestions PLEASE.

View from the kitchen.

View from the Hallway/front door.

Bit more of a look.

So thats it. Ignore any mess you can see (a half done footstool under the sideboard, cupcakes and mums lamp on the sideboard..)

Love to know what you think :)

thanks Lovelies!

Hi Shann, It is sometimes hard to know where to put your own stuff.
When I feel like a change I draw to scale the room layout, then do the same for the furniture. Then I just keep moving the bits and pieces around on my floor plan until I like what I see.
Have fun with it.

Hi Shannon, I think it will look completely different once you've painted the lounge and sideboard and put up your new curtains and covered the dining room chairs... You probably won't have any energy left to move things around but how about making a lounge/seating area in front of the window and then use the other part of the room for your sideboard and dining table.
I'm sure it will look great however you have it...

Hi Shann, no I dont like furniture all around the walls either! I have had a similar problem here as our front room is ginormous so basically what I have done is make 2 rooms in the one using the furniture. Wish I could come over and move your furniture around! Anyway what I would do would be to take the lounge from the wall and face the back to the dining table. At the back you put a high half table which you can also use as a serving table for the dining room (and put pretties on. Coffee table stay there, put single chairs at an angle on the wall where the lounge was. If this makes sense then viola you have a two rooms in one!
dont think I could paint that lounge, I love the dark wood on those, you are a braver woman than I with white lol!!
anyway hope this essay made some sense.

Hi Shannon, I am agreeing with Alicia. Pull the dining table out a little bit more away from the window, then spin the lounge around to face the other way (am I making any sense? LOL). Great sunny room! Less is always more. Have fun!

Girls im thinking lounge where the table is (facing the front yard) with a sofa table behind/against it, and the dining table at the other end of the room (where the lounge is now).
What do you think?

Hi Shan,
I think I agree with both Alicia & Katrina, I would try to divide the room into 2 sections (If possible) I moved our lounge from off one of the walls & put it smack bang where we used to walk into the lounge room, it was strange at first but now that we have got used to it I couldn't imagine it any other way. I think you just have to 'play' with what you have, maybe take out something & add in something from another room. Best of luck with it, more piccies of it when you have finished please!!!

Hi Sweetie,

Well first of all, start packing up that lamp and sending it my way...then after you do that.....
I think I like the idea of dividing the room into two areas, oh how I wished I lived close, I rearrange my room about every 20 minutes. Hehe!!!! I like the idea of putting the table in the middle and the sideboard in front of the window. Whatever you end up doing, please don't forget to show us.

Hugs,
LeAnn :)

P.S. I'm on my way!!!!

Right now I would love to have two Queen Anne chairs to use as captains chairs for the ends of my table an put the actual dining room chairs on either side of my buffet. Would your arm chair work in that capcity? I agree with what someone else said - It will look closer to how you want it when your painting is done and the curtains are hung. I hope you post pics! Shann,
First off - I love your floor!
I won't be much of a help, because what I do is move something then something else and keep moving it around until I like it - I have to actually SEE the piece where I'm thinking. Sometimes I end up moving almost everything back.
I think the piece you're going to paint white will be lovely when you're finished. I'd love to see it once it's done! See why I stay up so late at night? Moving furniture back - good luck Sweets!

I was just about to write my plan and Alicia has already done it for me, only thing is the couch seems to slip around with no wall behind it, some little pads or something under the feet would stop that
