Painting Tables

Yep, I'm off my miserable "missing my boy at Kindergarten" backside, and I'm paintin up a storm! LOL.

Well, reality hit me and I thought maybe it was time i cleared the hallway of furniture, it was fast becoming an obstacle course AND Shane was starting to require regular blood transfusions to make up for the blood he kept losing every time he banged into something.....(chuckle chuckle) but geez you'd think he would have gotten used to them being there by now and worked himself out a safety route huh?

Anyroad, to keep things peaceful ive done 2 bedside tables so hubbs can see that there is light at the end of the hallway... (until i buy more stuff to fill the hallway back up...ssshhh dont tell Shane, let him have his joy for 5 minutes).

Before....a lil bit cute n country but hmmm i had something better in mind.


After....love this now...can i keep it...in the hallway maybe..???


Now for something a little Oh-So-Sweet for a girlie girl like me :)
Woops just realised i didn't take a b4 piccie. Oh well, it was brown anyway.

I painted the sides pink with my roses.

Another great thing about clearing the hallway and painting.....keeping my mind occupied during this tragic time we are experiencing here in Australia. However my thoughts and prayers are never too far away.....

The Strength of People

Here in Australia right now we are experiencing some of the worst weather the nation has seen for a long, long time.
In Queensland, flood waters are destroying homes, business' and livestock. Too much rain, too soon and for too long. Then not too far over in Victoria the exact opposite. Fires like you cannot imagine, or maybe in your worst nightmares you can.
And just like the flooding, the loss of homes, business' and livestock is heartbreaking....however the most devastating is the loss of lives....the tally stands at 26 now as i type this.
I simply cannot put to words how i feel when i watch the news and see images of this devastation. I cannot even imagine the emotions of everyone affected.
And i feel useless. Completely useless. All i can offer right now is a prayer and i know in my heart that it will be heard.


Please if you can, just send a little request to the man upstairs to watch over these amazing Australians as they fight for everything.

May they remain strong and brave and come through this nightmare together,safely.

Well in my case it's kid at school, house to myself...boredom kicks in because this peace and quiet and new found 'me time' is kind of alien like to me...

TEARDROPS AND TWEAKIN'

Today my boy started Kindergarten. BIG DAY !! I cant believe he is in Primary School now....makes me feel all old and emotional.
Im so proud of my lil guy. He did his very best to hold in the tears, and he managed right up til it was time for me to say Bye and give him a kiss. Thats when Niagra Falls exploded. I know some kids go off happily (as do some mums)...but i knew it would be hard for Sam and i. We have a very unique bond, he's the chips, im the gravy, you know, we go together :)
I tried my best in the tears department too...but who am i kidding i was a big sooky lala the minute i was out of his sight.
BUT im sure he is having a ball and has made soooo many new friends. I cant wait to pick him up and hear all about it (and give him the hugest hug and kiss ever).

Now I snuck this picture in when he wasnt looking...A quiet moment with 'Stinky' before he had to leave.(Stinky is his toy giraffe that he's had since he was a baby)




So to keep myself busy today ive been tweakin a little bit around the house.
I had painted this arm chair white a few months ago and popped a rosie pink cover on it, but it needed a bit more of a tweak, a bit more white maybe...

A bed skirt and some pretty cushions and its done. Oh and No before you ask, im not going to iron that bed skirt..LOL ..i hate ironing and plus its too darn hot (and im sticking with that excuse i think).


So thats been my day.....only 1 more hour till i can pick Sam up.....buts who's counting hey :)

Im sure that now he's at school i'll be paintin' and tweakin' up a storm here !
I think Shane has already made me a list! LOL.

I hope all your kids, grandkids, nieces, nephews etc are enjoyng being back at school.
And PLEASE will someone tell me im not the only mum who's sad and crying like a big ole baby....

ONCE UPON A TIME.....

My little boy was so tiny and wore these shoes to his 1st Birthday Party.....



Now he is 5 and a half (yep he insists you say the half) and getting ready for his first year of school next week.

Today we went shopping for school stuff.....and my boy wanted new shoes for 'just around mum'
He wanted thongs (ok now to us in Aussie land, thongs go on your feet, not ya backside, ok)

So, gone are the sweet,little brown loafers....
Today he chose these....scary skulls and flames...geez...

My boy is growing up. BUT he still loves holding his mummys hand and swinging it when we are out and he still loves to snuggle on my lap at night time when we read a story. So to me he's still my little boy...i think he always will be.
He also informed me today In a very matter of fact voice mind you) that when he is big and has a wife, he is getting Bunk Beds and she can sleep on the bottom one or hit the road. ** LOL ** You gotta love how their minds work hey.

So i have my boy home with me for 5 more days.....yes im in serious denial about the whole school thing.....maybe it will get cancelled????
One can live and hope huh?

This is the handsome face im gonna miss every day.....it will be weird being home by myself....counting down till 2;30pm when i can get a cuddle :)



SO i imagine with Sam at school i will be painting up a storm at home...hmmm...or eating cookies and watchin' Ally McBeal and McLeods Daughters re-runs on Foxtel..LOL.

Maybe i can combine them all hey?

COME AND MEET MISS CHARLOTTE

WARNING: EXTREME CUTENESS AHEAD.

As of last night we have a new addtion to our little (cough splutter) household.
She is a tiny, fluffy and oh-so-sweet little ball of Kitten.
NOW before you say it....
YES i NEEDED another cat !
Im a sucker for little balls of fluff...i cant help it.
Plus Shane took one look at her and said Yes you can have her. (Or was it because Sam and i were wearing those pitiful looking faces we pull on him occasionally that we KNOW darn well will get us ANYTHING we want..heehee)
That might be it...but im not admitting anything that could be used against me later.
LOL.

Anyroad.... without further ado...let me introduce you to Charlotte (Charlie for short)


This lil darlin is only 5 weeks old and had been dumped at the local vet and rescued by my friend Matt who does Cat/Kitten Rescues. (Thanks Matt, we love her so much).

Now...the task of deciding on a name for this cutie was HUGE...due to a certain 5 year old who kept insisting on names like 'Spongebob, Patrick, Gary, Gaston and Maleficant'
In the end we came to an agreement. Mummy chooses the first name and Sam chooses the middle name.

So heres what we came up with.

I'M READY FOR MY CLOSE UP NOW MR DEMILLE.

LOL , well not quite. But i do have some cute news.
Last week i received and email from a Journalist at our local newspaper asking if i could contact her in regards to a story on my Faux Cupcakes. After i shrieked and giggled hysterically i then thought Hmmmm Is this is a joke...Am i being Punk'd ..??? LOL.
Well i rang the lovely gal and 2 days later her and the papers photographer came to our house to interview me and take piccies for a Feature on Local Artists.

HEY WHO CHANGED THE YEAR ON ME...????

Good Grief Charlie Brown its like i blinked and 2008 was gone and there was 2009 right smack bang in front of me, lights flashing, confetti throwing, sirens blaring, rearing to go! (ok so i over dramatized it just a little bit, but you know what i mean). AND Ok i admit, i personally am not, in any way shape or form, rearing to go! I am soooo behind in everything. And i mean everything. Time is my worst enemy right now. So if you have emailed me and are waiting on a reply....PLEASE HANG IN THERE...I'll be with you as soon as possible! This is a recording. LOL.

So whats keeping me busy already? Well mainly this handsome young fellow right here.

Sam starts his first year of school On February 4th so I'm clinging to him like glue right now. I honestly cannot bear to think of what it will be like to have my little mate away from me all day, 5 days a week....breaks my heart (queue the violin music).

I'll be the mum clinging to the gate, crying hysterically on his first day (oh did i say on his first day? I meant his first YEAR..LOL) NO JOKE ! I may need an intervention!

Next...well I'm working on some new paintings and some furniture (for me and for my website). Plus my website needs and EXTREME MAKEOVER...the list goes on and on and on.

Here's a couple of pretties i finished.

Picked this gorgeous piece up for $5.00 at the local St Vinnies (they love me there, and vice verse). Potential PLUS huh??? YOU BETCHA SWEET BACKSIDE !

So of course Shane says "Oh i like that one better"
WHAT ??? NOOOOOOO !!!!!! Don't make it harder for me to choose!
Uh...honey for future reference...please don't confuse and irritate a woman wielding a staple gun...! best to stay on her good side. LOL.


So anyroad, that's a bit of what I'm up to. Busy busy like a little bee, that's me.

I PROMISE i am going to make it round to visit you all...even if it takes me all day and night ( i may have to start drinking coffee...Yikes).

A Paint Mine Pink Christmas

Hello lovelies, i thought it was about time i shared some of my chrissy decorating pics with you. Yep, i finally finished 'tweakin' (thats not to say im happy with it but), LOL. Im such a fusspot.
I'll try and keep the piccies to a minimum and just show you my favourite parts of our Christmas decorating.
So grab your egg nog, throw some tinsel around your neck a-la scarf style and lets go.

This is the view from the kitchen to the front room. Come on in...


The Dining Table is a team effort by Sam and i. I love it ! At night we flick the little bud lights on and its like a mini winter wonderland.


Our Angels sit on a table watching over us...


This year i finally convinced Shane we needed a white tree. Well i kinda got one....it turns out that this tree is soooo white its blue! believe it or not that does make sense. Anyway i love it. We also bought Sam a Christmas Train Set for around the bottom (uh but it seems im the one who keeps playing with it. It even has music...so cool)



In the Family Room you can find my gorgeous and very regal looking Santa sitting on the dresser surrounded by snow and tiny little blue bud lights.



But my absolute FAVOURITE part of our christmas decorating is this.....i saved the best for last...

My gorgeous boy, he did this all himself, he even chose the colours he wanted. All i did was hang the candy canes from the mirror for him. He is such a sweet boy, i love him so much.Can you see, he even put baubles in a lantern! eeekkk so cute!

FAVOURITE THINGS CHRISTMAS BLOG PARTY !

Today my sweet friend Sarah over @ GypsyMermaidLife is hosting a bit of a 'soiree' for us all to chit chat about what Christmas means to us...and so on.
Here is what Sarah said: Were going to tell of our Favorite things during this time of year like Christmas lights, the spirit of Christmas, or just how you love to shop around like crazy mad shoppers! haha

Well i am not quite done 'tweakin' my Chrissy decoration yet so i tootled on up to mums place today to give her and hand around the house, and took my trusty camera with me. My mum had all her decorating done before she went into hospital and im thinking it must have been so nice to come home to such beautiful surroundings after being in hospital for a week.
Mum and i have alot of similar 'stuff' for decorating and our styles are much the same, yet different (hmm does that make sense). Anyhow i think this year mum has truly outdone herself and should be applauded!
So today on behalf of my Mum and Stepdad i welcome you to CHRISTMAS AT THE WILSONS.

As far as things we love about christmas....well i did a post on this last year and you know what? I still love all the things i listed. So im sure, even though this is about my mums christmas home, that she would agree with these....
So what do i love most about Christmas?.....I love the people in my life, the animals in it, the amazing and emotional feeling that overcomes me on christmas morning when Sam See's that Santa has been and his stocking is full and there are gifts under the tree just for him. I love my job as 'Present Giver Outer' when the whole family is together around the tree.... I love snapping photos of my family when they think no-one is looking, capturing the emotional smiles on their faces...i love sitting down to lunch and not being able to hear myself think for all the chatter that is going on around me...i love when we all jump in the pool and go totally crazy because we are that happy to be together.....i love Sam's tired little face at the end of the day, hes so worn out and so gosh darn happy to be a kid....
Above all i love my family from the top of my head to the tips of my toes and i thanks God for the blessing of them every single day.
